Farmworker Reality Tour - Oct. 14, 2018

Come and meet the farmworkers that are responsible for the fruits, vegetables and nuts that most of us consume daily. Hear their stories and learn about their lives along the Central Coast of California. We will visit their “homes” and learn about the many obstacles they face in their heroic day-to-day struggle to survive and raise their families. We will visit Crystal Bay Farm and meet our first family. They will demonstrate the skill-set required to pick strawberries.

Farmworker Reality Tour

Farmworker Reality Tour participants will learn about three current farming practices in the area, the role of North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in forcing farmworker immigrants out of Mexico and into the U.S. as NAFTA economic refugees, and the conditions farmworkers live with in the U.S. as they and their families struggle to survive grinding poverty, poor diet, crowded housing conditions, pesticide exposure, sexual harassment and no health insurance.
